sound and camera work is of course a lot better compared to the unedited BS-Skyperfect TV broadcast version.
Holy. Shit. This medley is fucking amazing. The songs, performances, and general production choices (don't know if that's the right phrase but I don't know how else to describe it).
When I saw the setlist, I had a few reservations;
While I'm all for all H!P girls getting a spotlight I will readily admit that solos from Ikuta, Iikubo, Ayumi, and 12ki worry me. It's unfortuante that 12ki girls didn't get solos/featured songs but other than Miki it makes sense because none of the other 12ki girls seem ready for it.
The girls I expect to get solos (Mizuki, Kudo, Sakura, Maa-chan) did as expected. I really love that Maa-chan got to do Do It! Now, that song is such a classic. The way that the Erina and Harunan got their moment to shine but got backup from other girls once the choruses started was GENIUS because it didn't take away from the featured girls. Harunan was a really pleasant surprise. She'll likely never be a lead but she's become a solid performer and arguably didn't need to backup but I understand why UF* did it.
On a side note, I still don't completely understand Ayumi's frontgirl treatment/status in the group; I get that she's a superb dancer but I feel her singing is really lacking. Completely coincidental, and not her fault, but the timing that the concert was released on DVD/BluRay is also really unfortunate because I immediately compared Ayumi's Glass no Pumps to Airi and Mao's HinaFes performance. Obviously being compared to Airi is almost never a good thing but I also couldn't help but think that Mao vocally out-did Ayumi. It's definitely not an apples to apples comparison since it's a solo vs duet situation but I couldn't help it since the I watched the videos so close together.
All-in-all I hope that the way they did this medley with most/every girl getting a moment becomes a norm for all H!P groups.
